"Shaft Length" or "Cut shaft length" is just the length of the cut shaft (doesn't even include the adapter if one is installed). Although some people are interested in the length of the shaft plus the adapter depending on the context they are using the value. This is a new thing so there is no official term for it.

- Unscrew bottom screw/bolt from club head - Remove the club head from the shaft - Lay the shaft on a flat surface - Measure from the bottom of the adapter tip to the end of the grip in inches

The ONLY way to properly and correctly determine is try different length of shafts. maybe apply some impact tape to the face and see how consistent your impact marks are to center. An inch or or so extra length will only result in less than 5 yards increased carry IF you can still hit it on center.

Having a professional measure you for a suggested club length is a plus as they can determine whether you would benefit from a custom length club. The length of the arm relative to the height of the body determines the length of the club shaft. Measuring your golf club shaft length helps in purchasing new clubs and when replacing your shafts.

The actual, physical lengths of all our products will not change, but the published lengths for some new clubs will, resulting in our drivers and fairway woods being listed about 1/8” to 1/4” longer than before. Published length changes to the hybrids, irons and wedges will be minimal.

Shafts for 3-woods will usually max out at 43 inches, and shouldn’t be shorter than 42 inches. Those who carry a 5-wood and a 7-wood should be around 41 and 40 inches, respectively. Getting properly fitted is essential to knowing how long your fairway wood shafts should be.

The higher the golf club number, the shorter the club shaft length. A 3 wood is the longest fairway wood (usually 43”-42”), the 5 wood (42”-41”) and the 7 wood (41”-40”), although length will vary depending on the manufacturer.

They measure club by placing the shaft flat against the wall with the toe of the driver positioned on the ground. This will result in a much longer length than the other two methods mentioned before. Depending upon the lie of the driver can also contribute to the final length.

The 5 wood is 18 degrees and the 3 wood is 15 degrees. I would be better off with a 16 degree 5 wood and 14 degree 3 wood, or better yet a 15 degree 5 wood and 13 degree 3 wood (that would be the quickest fix since I already have the 15 degree, and all I would have to do is find a 13 degree that matched).

Remove the grip from the driver using a hook blade or a utility knife, as well as the grip tape on the shaft. Measure the length that you want to shorten on the shaft. Add an extra 1/8 inch to this and mark the position using a permanent marker. Fix the golf club in position in a vise.
